Heading Home

I finished the Broad Street Run!  I met the first two goals, and missed the last two.  I ran it in 1:45:36 and finished 17127.  Not too bad considering I didn't train that well.  I am still a little sore, but I will try to run a 5K on the treadmill tomorrow to stay loose.  I have the Delaware Marathon Relay coming up in two Sundays.  Today, I was in Washington DC attending the VMware Forum.  It was a good conference, and I have got a few new products to try out, like the new management suite, vCenter Operations.  Enjoying a Starbucks coffee on the Acela.  Next week, I will be in Las Vegas, and I have some awesome news to report.  Stay tuned.........

4 Days and Counting......

4 more days until the Broad St run and I am feeling good about it. I have to go pick up my bib on Friday. I might drive up and back down Broad St so I can get a feel for the run. I would like to run another 3+ miles tomorrow, but I don't think I will be able to find the time. I have meetings all day, and I get to finally meet my new VMware rep. With side work in the late afternoon, my day is booked. If I can find some time tomorrow morning, I will try to post some SourceOne tips and tricks. Watching Top Chef while enjoying a spring water. Go Flyers! Go Phils!

5 Days and Counting......

5 days until the Broad St. 10 mile run. I ran 3.34 miles over lunch in preparation. I was surprised at how comfortable in felt running at a 8:57 pace. It is always important to prepare yourself physically, but also mentally for a long race. A few days before, I try to imagine the race. I go over the race map to see where mile markers are located so I know how to pace myself. As always, the first goal is to finish and the second goal is to not finish last. The third goal is very hard: finish in the top half of all runners. The fourth goal is one I have not obtained: finish in the top half of men my age. The next run will be another short one on Thursday. At work today, I began configuring my EMC SourceOne infrastructure for email archiving. It is a really neat software, and hopefully I will be posting some tips and tricks later on how to configure it. Watching the flyers and enjoying a spring water. Go Flyers! Go Phils!

6 Days and Counting......

6 days until the Broad Street run.  I am having trouble getting my mind off of it.  I haven't successfully ran 10 miles since last year's Army ten-miler in October, and I haven't had much time or energy to train.  Since all of my daughters are now in daycare, I am getting sick every other week, and the weeks that I am healthy, someone else in the house is sick.  I was able to run 5 miles last Tuesday, and I am going to try to run at least a 5K over lunch tomorrow.  Watching the Phillies with a tasty glass of spring water, and then time for bed.  Go Phils!

My New Blog!

Hello everyone!  My name is Chris and this is my blog.  A few words about me: I am 32, happily married with three lovely daughters, and I work for Morris James LLP, one of the top law firms in Delaware, as a network engineer.  I am going to try and focus this blog on my job and my hobby, networking and running.  However, I may throw in a few other posts relating to music, movies, etc.  I am also going to try and post something new every day.  If anyone wants me to post on something in particular, let me know and I will try to accommodate.
